LOVE & MOXiE'S Savannah St. Patrick's Day Survival Guide

St. Patrick's Day in Savannah is no joke - let us help you conquer this city's massive shenanigans in style! Come on, a little MOXiE in that to-go cup of yours couldn't hurt . . .

Whether this is your first St. Patty's Day in Downtown Savannah or your fifteenth, we've got you covered with all the outfit inspo, belt bag must-haves, and parade pre-game cocktails you'll need!

First and foremost - no matter where you're celebrating or what time you're leaving the house for your first Jameson shot (the true breakfast of champions in the 31401) - we've gotta stock your bag with allllllll the necessities.

As parade veterans through and through, we can confidently say it's better to be over-prepared (even if just for a parade pal in need) than begging the new best friend you made in line for the porta-potty for one of their last ibuprofen.

While we'd oh-so responsibly recommend electrolyte packets, Advil Minis, and maybe a Tide to-go stick, we'd be lying if we didn't also suggest a caffeinated supplement, airplane shooter of your choosing to save yourself a couple dollars down the road, and a little extra makeup for touch-ups.

Now that you're set to take on all the green jello shots the 17th has to offer, we've got to address this hot mess of a parade situation.

Just like any good-ol Google search can tell you, the parade begins at 10:15AM at the intersection of Gwinnett and Abercorn. However, if this is in fact your first rodeo, you should know that folks start lining up around squares and road blocks the night before.

Given that Savannah has one of the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade's in the country - right behind New York City and Chicago - the "land rush" for parade spots is the real deal. At 6AM, city security will "officially" open the squares.

That being said, if insanely early mornings aren't your jam, you'll certainly still be able to enjoy the parade and all the festivities. Just don't expect a fabulous view of the Irish dancers or the mayor making their way around town.

We assume this goes without saying. . . but we're not taking any chances on getting pinched by annyyyyone - leprechaun or not. Good thing stylin' in green is easy-peasy, especially with an L&M accessory or two (or three, or four, or five . . .).

One of the best things about Savannah? To-go cups, baby!

On St. Patrick's Day, to-go cups are legally allowed out on the town until you hit East Victory St. While there are more than enough stops along the parade route to find yourself a vodka soda or a Guinness, we recommend pre-gaming with something a little snazzier while you can ;)

Psst! If you're still in the market to keep the shannanigans rolling but Congress Street is looking a wee bit too crowded for ya, might we recommend a trip to our neighborhood pals in Starland ;) We certainly can't guarantee that anywhere around here will be cool, calm, and collected, but hey, booze and a bite to eat without a 45-minute line wrapping around Broughton Street? Fine by us!

Cheers! Danielle & Renée
